The Bushwack 6

Friday, Balsam Cap, Rocky, Lone, Table & Peekamoose. Hiked in the order listed, the respective elevations for these mountain summits are 3692', 3608', 3487', 3700', 3825', 3819' – with an ascent of 4500' on the day. This is a long, challenging bushwhack and trail hike, covering more than 12 miles and rated as difficult. We will move at a moderate pace (about 1-1/2 mph moving speed) and expect to be outside for 10 hours. A shuttle is required for this point-to-point outing.

Hikers should bring water/ sports drink, hydration lunch/ snacks, proper clothing, a headlamp, hiking poles, sunscreen, and insect repellent.

Directions: We'll meet at the Peekamoose Trailhead Parking area, on Ulster County Hwy 42, Peekamoose Rd. From State Route 28 in Boiceville, follow hiking signs and turn onto Route 28A. Go 3 miles on 28A and turn right in West Shokan. Drive 9.9 miles west on Uls. Co. Hwy 42 (Watson Hollow Rd./ becomes Peekamoose Rd. This is where our hike will end. We'll leave cars there and will shuttle to the end of Moon Haw Rd to start our hike.
