Plateau Mountain from Mink Hollow South

Take an adventurous journey to this 3840’ Catskill high peak with Al Purdy and friends. Rated as difficult, this 7.3-mile hike begins with a trek up Mink Hollow from the south and then engages in a rigorous ascent of the eastern side of the mountain. Participants need to bring lunch/ snacks, water/ sports drink, sturdy hiking shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, proper layers, rain gear, extra shoes and socks, headlamp and hiking poles are recommended. The outing is expected to take six hours.

Please note, dogs are not permitted on this hike. Also note, there are several stream crossings on the Mink Hollow Trail that can be difficult to cross; and, poor weather conditions will postpone the hike.

We will begin at 9:00 am. To reach the trailhead take State Route 28 to the hamlet of Mount Tremper and turn onto State Route 212. Continue 6.5 miles and then turn left onto Mink Hollow Road in the hamlet of Lake Hill. Continue on Mink Hollow Road for 2.9 miles to the trailhead/ end of road.
