Shingle Gully is a protected primitive area within the Sam's Point Area of Minnewaska State Park Preserve. This rugged, protected landscape is accessible only on guided tours led by volunteer docents. Our hike will be about 4 to 4-1/2 miles long, and will ascend and descend about 1500 feet, on a combination of carriage roads, long rock scrambles, and off-trail bushwhacks. You must be fit, and comfortable with heights, tight spaces, open ledges, and poor footing.

This hike is limited to 12 people, and registration is required by September 7. Note, meeting place and time, route details, and required gear are subject to change based on weather forecast, trail conditions, etc. Updated information will be provided via email, usually about two to four days before the hike.

Optional hike to Vernooy Kill Falls in the afternoon.

Directions: From the junction of State Route 52 and US Route 209 in Ellenville, take Rte. 52 east for one half mile and turn left onto Broadhead St. Proceed .15 of a mile (becomes Berme Road) and make the second right onto the drive that leads up to the parking area for Berme Park.
