Join Al Purdy for this one-way, 11-mile hike along the Warner Creek Trail to the Tremper Mountain Parking Area near Phoenicia. Rated as difficult and expected to take ten hours, the route includes the summit of Evergreen Mountain, the crossing of Warner Creek, and the Tremper Mountain Fire Tower.
Participants should bring lunch/ snacks, plenty of water/ drink, clothing layers, rain gear, head lamp, and hiking poles (recommended). Registration is required for this hike. We will meet at the Tremper Mountain Parking Area at 8:00 am. From here, we will car shuttle to Notch Inn Road, where the hike will begin.
Directions to the Tremper Mountain Parking Area:
From NYS Thruway Exit 19/ Kingston, turn right onto State Route 28 and continue for 22.2 miles and turn right on Bridge Street. Go one-third of a mile to the stop sign and turn right onto Main Street/ Ulster County Hwy 40. Go 1.6 miles and the parking area is on the left.
From State Route 28 west take the first left turn into Phoenicia and continue for 1.9 miles to the parking area on the left.
